Special milling cutters are increasingly used for the manufacture of complex forms, as a time-consuming adjustment of the individual form segments is no longer necessary. The form milling cutter combines, if technologically possible, the complete form of a work piece. Thereby setting times can be reduced and a 100% dimensional accuracy can be guaranteed throughout the complete tool-life, especially after a repeated re-grinding of the tooth face. Spur-toothed, as well as spiral-toothed milling cutters, supplied as relief-turned or logarithmical relief- ground versions, can be manufactured with substantially more teeth numbers compared to standard milling cutters. As a result, productivity on the whole as well as the surface quality of the work piece can be increased.
